Supermarket Sweep!

Does anyone remember that tv game show, Supermarket Sweep??

I always thought it'd be so much fun to be a contestant on that show, racing through a store with a shopping cart and grabbing things off the shelves as quickly as possible!

Well if you saw Eric and I in Super Target this past Sunday, you would've thought we were on that game show.  We each had a shopping cart: Eric was pushing Zoey and Chase, I had Lyla and Siena.  We had a list of about 10 items that we needed, including dog food, paper towels, and a new towel rack for the bathroom (one with 4 hooks so we can hang all of the kids' towels!).

Okay, so you know how it goes at Target.  You're walking down the aisle on your way to the paper towels and you pass the picture frames.  Of course you have to stop and look.  You have to.  And then you remember that your son needs a new backpack for school.  Oh and you could really use a new bike pump because the old one broke.

Somewhere in the middle of the store, it starts.  Lyla is crying.  A few minutes later, Zoey chimes in.  People are starting to stare.  Pretty quickly I decide, "Eric, let's just grab the essentials and get out of here!"

As we pick up the pace, the babies are screaming, other shoppers are gawking, and I'm yelling out, "Ziploc bags!  Shampoo!"  We split up for a second and then we find each other again.  A few minutes later we're literally running through the store.  I overhear one lady say, "Are those 2 carts together?  Are those twins?  How many kids do they HAVE?"  (and I imagine she's thinking, "Why did they bring them all to Target?!"

On my way to the cash register, I pass a lady handing out samples of Kashi cereal and I holler to Eric, "Kashi's on sale!"  I quickly explain to the lady, over Lyla's screams, that I'm not interested in the samples, just give me the boxes on display because I don't have time to go down the cereal isle to get them myself.  The cereal was buy 4 get 1 free, plus I had a coupon, so poor lady, I wiped out her supply!

By time we make it to the car, we're both sweating from our race around the grocery store.  $150 later, we threw so much stuff in the cart, I'm not even sure of what we got!  I bet I'd be really good at that game show though!

HILARIOUS!!!! I know it wasn't fun at the time, but I'm glad you can look back on it and see the humor. And I'm really glad you shared this "real life" story with us. Helps me feel normal :)
