I was trying to think of just one thing to write about, like how I wrote about my dogs last time, but this time it's not working for me. So again, I'm just going to write whatever comes to mind:
I just found a new dentist that I really like. It's the 4th dentist that I've been to since living in Maryland and finally I can go get my teeth cleaned without worrying about whether they see adults instead of just kids (Eric's old dentist that he's been going to his whole life), or whether I'll have problems with my insurance there, or whether they keep the floors clean. Going to the dentist is a big deal for me, so finding a good one is HUGE. Speaking of teeth: I love my Sonicare toothbrush. I highly recommend it.
I wonder whether many people will watch the State of the Union tonight. I consider myself a news junkie, a Bush fan, and I love politics and yet, I'd really rather not watch it. Too boring and too scripted. Merely a campaign speech. So if someline like me won't watch it, who will? I'll enjoy reading about it tomorrow on the internet though and I can't wait to hear what the democrats say in response. More campaign speeches, but I like to laugh at the predictability.
It's been really cool these last few weeks to reconnect with some old friends. I got to see my oldest friend (oldest in the sense that I've known her the longest) and just sit and talk for hours. I can't even remember the last time that we got to do that and it was just so refreshing. It's amazing how alike we are and how much we understand each other, even though we haven't lived in the same city since we were four. Plus she was nearly 9 months pregnant and just gorgeous! I can't wait to meet her son, Elias!
Then I got a letter from an old middle school/college friend who's in Iraq right now. Hadn't heard from him in a long time and I was starting to get worried that maybe he'd been injured or something worse. But I got a nice long letter with some pictures of him and his new wife, who he got to see over Christmas while on R&R, and I was just so happy to hear that he was okay. And lastly, I met up with my old neighbor from Colorado who happened to be in town last weekend. It's been nearly 8 years since we even talked and we had lots of catching up to do. I just love seeing or hearing from old friends... it makes you remember who you were in different stages of your life and it makes you realize how far you've come. And it's neat to think that every person that you've been friends with along they way has had some small, or sometimes large, affect on who you are today.
I really wish that I could speak German fluently. I wish that I had taken more German classes in college, or even majored in it. There's a lot of things I wish I could have majored in: political science, education, landscape architecture, journalism. There's so much to learn about. I would study those things now but it would take lots of money. It stinks that it costs so much to learn stuff.
Eric and I got new cell phones today. It's going to take me YEARS to figure out how to work the darn thing. The last cell phones we had were like the ancient ones with green screens that didn't even have games. Now we have these new fancy phones that are supposed to play music, tv shows, take pictures, record movies, and probably even make you an omelete if you want one. They were practically free with a Verizon promotion. Same phone number as before so give me a call if you want some breakfast.
