Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Yesterday was a holiday... sort of. I had the day off from work since New Years Day fell on Sunday. And it was the best kind of day off since Eric just happened to be off of work too and we had no plans! So what did we do? Slept late (as late as the puppies would allow us!), went for a run that got cut short because it started raining, ate waffles, cleaned the house a bit, went to Blockbuster, the book store (5 new books!), Jiffy Lube, Petco (5 new fish! and Iams Large Breed dog food), Starbucks for the infamous gingerbread latte, and to another Blockbuster because the first one didn't have the movie I was looking for- Little Women. I just finished the book and now I'm dying to see the movie! Tragically, the second Blockbuster didn't have it either. After our errands, Eric watched football while I tried to figure out my new sewing machine. It seems pretty tricky so I think I'm going to have to take a lesson or two. But I'm very excited about it! Makes me feel OLD. Anyways, after that we cooked dinner together and then watched the movie we rented: War of the Worlds. Wasn't very good but I got a good laugh or two out of it.

Anyways, the point is- I love random days off! They just seem so different from ordinary "days off" like Saturday and Sunday! It seems very exciting to know that I could be at work right now!

Speaking of the "w" word, today was back to normal at the office. I nominated myself for Grinch duty and took down all of the office Christmas decorations. Then I spent the rest of the day looking up flights to Australia. Or Tahiti. Both of those are sounding really nice right now.

I have a sewing machine on my list too! But instead I got a crock pot...I guess only one gift per christmas that can make you feel old...hahahaha! And I'm with you on a flight to anywhere else...

shannon-man, your work MUST be boring. looking up flights, taking down christmas decorations, wow. do you and eric watch "the office" on nbc? we do. tj absolutely loves it. i like it too. i liked reading about your day off. that was cool. i remember days like that before a baby made it too difficult to go more than like 2 places at a time in a row. i did meet a friend for lunch today. we met in lamaze and had the same due date, although her baby brooke was born 5 days after Bauer, on Sept 20. it was fun talking about baby stuff with someone in the same boat. after that, i even ran a couple errands, so it was kind of like old times. that's cool about your sewing machine too. thanks for writing on your blog. i am glad you did.
