Explanation

It just occured to me that before I publish this blog for the whole world to see, maybe I should explain the title. Those of you that listen to Caedmon's Call probably know where it comes from...
It's a line in their song "Faith My Eyes" from the 40 Acres album. The chorus is:

So keep 'em coming, these lines on the road
And keep me responsible, be it a light or heavy load
Keep me guessing with these blessings in disguise
And I'll walk with grace my feet and faith my eyes

When this album came out at the end of my freshman year at Clemson, I just fell in love with this song. Sometimes when I'm feeling down, I sing the chorus to myself to remind me that life's just a long journey. It's not defined by one moment, but by many: good and bad. And amazingly, sometimes even the tough stuff turns out to be a blessing. But above all, I like to remind myself that the easiest way to walk down the road is to just close my eyes and let the Lord lead me. Because I don't even want to know where I'd end up if I trusted myself.

On a related note, this song also reminds me of one that my Dad used to sing to me when he took me to school in the morning: Here we go down the bumpy road...
The road was actually really bumpy, but little did he know that the song would have so much more meaning for me! Thanks, Dad, for teaching me early on that life isn't always easy!
