I put a few more links on the right side of this page...
First of all, Facebook. This website came out 2 years after I graduated, so there aren't too many people that I know on there. It's mostly for current high school and college students, but there are plenty of alumni as well. You have to have a school email address to sign up (if you went to Clemson, you can get one here), and then once you're on, you can search for people that you went to school with, who live near you, etc. I've been able to re-connect with a few people from my high school that I haven't talked to in 8 years... so it's been fun!
The other new link is much more serious: Compassion International. If it were up to me, everyone would have a sponsored child though this organization. I think it's just amazing. Eric and I have been sponsoring 2 kids for about a year and a half now and it's been an awesome experience! Yonas is from Ethiopia and Joanna is from the Phillippines. I wish that I had my scanner hooked up so that I could scan their pictures and post them on here. They are just precious. I love writing letters to them and most of all I love to get their letters in return. Joanna is a little too young to write so her mom writes to us instead. But every time, she draws out some dotted lines for Joanna to follow so that she can write "I love you". And Yonas always draws cute pictures of bicycles or trees. And what's more humbling than anything is when they say "I'm praying for you." Can you imagine that? A child in a third world country is praying for me. It seems nearly impossible. And it's neat to think that if I ever went to visit their country, they would know me. Compassion actually does organize trips for sponsors and I would love to go one day. Anyways, I hope that everyone reading this will consider sponsoring a child or two. You can even go to their website and look through pictures to pick the child you want. Or you can just go pot luck like we did. Anyways, it doesn't cost much at all and it's extremely rewarding. Plus the organization is very well run and is rated high among charities. Okay, that's all for the advertising today... I'm starting to sound like one of those commercials.
Oh, one more. My friend Randell told me about this website and I think it's so much fun! It's called Find Your Spot. You can fill out a survey and then it gives you a list of which cities in the US would suit you best. The top of my list included Gainesville, Greenville and Charleston. (Surprise, surprise!) Eric's top cities were Denver, Salt Lake City and Asheville! Probably because he likes it cold and I like it hot!

Shannon, TJ and I both did the Find Your Spot survey not too long ago. TJ's #1 was High Point NC and mine was Charleston. My top 5 were Charleston, Phoenix, Austin, Jacksonville, and Orlando. I think I'd like all of those but Phoenix. It was fun doing the survey though. Oh, and Facebook....my sister just told me about this over Christmas. I guess it's all the rage at Clemson now. Probably at college in general. I figured I couldn't do it since I don't have a college email address, but thanks to you, maybe I'll get one and see if I can find a few old friends on there. And thanks for sharing about Compassion. TJ and I have not sponsored a child before, although my mom has and when we go home, I always see the pictures of the kids she sponsors on the fridge. Maybe we will consider this, too.
