Magic Monkey Bananas

I'm not a crafty person... seriously, I'm not. I have the hardest time thinking of original things to do with Chase. And even when I do have great ideas, this is how it goes:

me: "Hey Chase, want to make a horse out of coat hangers, tube socks, and leaves?"
Chase: "No thanks mommy! Want to play baseball?"

Most of the time we read books, do puzzles, play trains, color, or just play outside. You know, normal stuff! But every once in a while we do something a little different. Like "planting a rainbow!" Another genius idea that went over really well recently was "making Magic Monkey Bananas." A few weeks ago we checked out a book from the library called "No More Cookies!" by Paeony Lewis. It was so cute and Chase loved it. At the end of the book, Florence (the main character) and her mom make chocolate and sprinkle covered frozen bananas that they call "Magic Monkey Bananas." I had totally forgotten about this until one day last week when I saw a chocolate mix packet by the banana display at Publix. It was only $1 and so easy... just dip the little bag of chocolate in hot water until it melts, pour it into a cup and then dip a frozen banana in it! We added sprinkles for extra fun. Chase wasn't too crazy about eating the frozen banana (I guess it was too cold to bite!) but he did love making them and then licking the chocolate and sprinkles off!

We've also since checked out the other Paeony Lewis book, "No More Yawning" at the library. Chase randomly found it among hundreds of other books! It's also really cute!

On another night last week, we helped Chase make a big collage for his room. I wanted him to have lots of pictures of his family and friends on his wall so he could see them all the time. Daddy helped him with this one...
