What's the deal?

At the risk of sounding like Seinfeld, I just have to know... What's the deal with everyone wanting to give my 1 year old candy? This even happened last year around Halloween when he was only 8 months old! Today we were at the vet and while I was checking Berkeley in, the secretary asked me if Chase could have a l-o-l-l-i-p-o-p (I thought it was funny that she spelled it out)! I said, "No thanks, he's a little too young and he'd probably just bite it and choke or something." So then said, "ok, well I'll bring you something he can have then." I was thinking she might return with some raisins or a cookie, but no, she came back with a Reese's peanut butter cup! Maybe he looks older than he is, but really?! I had to just tell her that we'd save it for later and put it in my pocket. Meanwhile, I was thinking that Eric was really going to enjoy this when he got home! I guess I should just expect this to continue since Halloween is just around the corner. Someone else tried to give him a Tootsie Roll the other day... and I just had to laugh, and then eat it.
