Sweet little Joey

I promise to do a "real" blog post tomorrow, but for now, I only have one thing on my mind: my nephew Joey. He's been in the hospital since yesterday afternoon when he had a seizure. He was riding in the back of my sister Jessica's car with my mom when he suddenly started convulsing and turning blue. They were actually near MUSC in downtown Charleston so they quickly drove to the ER. His seizure lasted almost an hour, after the doctors tried several medications. He is still in the hospital, about 32 hours later, because they're still not sure what's wrong, and they want to make sure there wasn't any long term damage caused by the seizure. At the moment they're running all kinds of tests, but my sister says they suspect some kind of viral infection in his chest, which caused a fever that caused the seizure. It's so strange because he had absolutely no prior symptoms, other than a fever the night before that had gone away. Please pray for Joey and for his family. I know my sister is so worried and stressed, and just wants her little boy to be okay. He's just not himself at the moment, and if you've ever met Joey, you know he's usually the happiest baby on Earth! Hopefully he won't have any more seizures and will get to go home soon.

I will certainly be praying for Joey! A seizure can be the scariest thing for a parent to watch! Please keep us posted - I know the doctors at MUSC are top notch and he is in great hands!

we are praying for joey! seizures can be really scary. the same thing happened to our niece (jake's sister's daughter). her fever spiked...she had a lot of tests run and doctors concluded the spike in temperature was the cause. it think she was about the same age as joey when it happened to her. we'll be praying for joey and the family. Love you lots.
