What I love about living here is that everything is so nice. Whenever we want to go to a new store or restaurant we don't have to drive by and check it out first to make sure that it's okay. Seriously, we had to do that in Laurel and it was not fun. One of my favorite places here is the mall. Not because they have unique stores or anything, but because they have amazing "family lounges!" The lounges are set up with couches, toys for the kids, a TV with cartoons, diaper changing counters, and nursing stations complete with trendy curtains, cute rugs and a comfy chair! The diaper changing area even has bottle warmers and wipe warmers!!! Not that I've ever used a wipe warmer at home, but I guess now Chase can enjoy the luxury of a warm wipe while we're out shopping! The only bad thing about these lounges is that they end up making a lot of kids angry. Their parents bring them in to change their diaper or whatever and they wind up with a screaming toddler who would rather play with the toys and watch cartoons than shop for new clothes with mommy!
It seems like summer is the same in almost every part of the country I've lived in... South Carolina, Colorado, Maryland, Florida... it's all the same. Plenty of hot days with sunshine in the morning and thunderstorms that roll through in the afternoon. We haven't seen much rain from the thunderstorms though and that's a shame because there are lots of forest fires in the northern part of the state and they could use the relief. Due to the direction of the winds, we had a few days last week where the air was filled with smoke from the fires and it was almost unbearable to be outside.
I'm kind of sad that we'll have a whole summer without a good old fashioned Maryland crab feast! I'm guessing that they don't really sell steamed crabs with Old Bay down here. That's going to be rough.
I try really hard not to watch TV a lot now that I'm at home all day. I've never been into soaps, but it's tempting to turn the TV on, especially while I'm feeding Chase. But mostly I resist the temptation and reach for a book or the phone instead. However, I do enjoy watching an episode of the Cosby Show every now and then! It's my new favorite and I especially enjoy it because it comes on late in the afternoon so I know that once it's over, Eric will be home soon!
I've been taking more pictures of Chase lately because it seems like he's changing so much all the time! He does something new every day! Here are some of the latest:
This is Chase's favorite pastime... looking out the window! We even have a song that we like to sing together about it!

Oh my gosh!! Chase is getting so big! Next time we see you guys, he'll be walking...
I'm so glad you're liking Tampa, your new home, the mall, etc.! I love hearing you talk about how cool the area is. It helps me get a visual! Miss you.
he's just way too cute. I have to say I am a little jealous of the family lounge - in our mall- they just remodeled the bathrooms. The changing table in the bathroom is just an area on the marble counter top with a bar next to it so they can't roll off. They have a family bathroom now so i thought-ok- there must be a nice changing area in there. They keep in locked. You actually have to find someone with a key to let you in to the family bathroom - sounds like it'll be nice, huh? No, no, same old marble changing area. What are they thinking????
I love that last pic of him - looks like he's arching his eyebrow! Hilarious.
I'm trying to figure out when i can come see you for a weekend to meet the little guy and get some time with you. I'll check dates with you soon.
Lots of love.
Melissa
