Nesting!!!

I think it's fair to say that Eric and I have been "nesting" big time in preparation for these twins! Our house is a totally different place these days. When we first moved in almost 4 years ago, we had 2 major projects in mind for the house: new countertops and hardwood floors. Well, we took care of the countertops last year and this year it was finally time to replace the yucky old carpet! It was so awful, torn up in some places and stained all over from the kids and the dog. I couldn't wait to get rid of it! The plan was to wait until after we got our tax return back, but with the new babies on the way, we decided to start earlier in the year. Thank goodness we did because it was a long process! We went to 4 different flooring companies for estimates, looked at countless samples, and finally ordered the wood that we wanted and waited a month for it to arrive. The actual installation took about a week. A week full of basically living on the lanai, in the backyard, at playgrounds, and friends' houses, and eating out at restaurants. I so wish that I had taken pictures of the inside of our house during that time because it was definitely a sight to see: concrete slab floors and dust EVERYWHERE! We had moved most everything out to the garage, but what we didn't anticipate was that the contractors would leave the garage door open while they cut the wood in the driveway (they kept a lot of their supplies in our garage and I guess they needed access to it), so everything in the garage was covered in dust too! We have spent the last 2 weeks dusting and cleaning every surface of every thing that we own!! It was an exhausting process, but it feels so good to have everything back in the house and in it's place! We are DONE renovating and it was so worth it! I love the floors!

One other project that we've been working on is getting the nursery ready, which first required us to move Chase and Siena together into the same room! I had been kind of dreading this move because I wasn't sure they would actually get any sleep, and I worried about Siena climbing up to the top of the bunk beds and falling off. Three days later, I still worry about this constantly, but at least I know they're capable of sleeping in the same room! They've been getting to sleep a little later each night, and waking up earlier every morning, but I really can't complain: they've been so good! Last night when Eric and I went in to check on them, they were both sleeping in the same bed! SO cute!! Their room is still a work in progress as I need to figure out how to decorate it so that it's not too boyish and not too girly... so I'll take some pictures of the final product when it's finished.

Here are Chase and Siena checking out their bunk beds for the first time:

Do you think they're excited?!

The two of them in the same bed last night (Siena is in the back right corner):

The nursery is coming along too... Eric painted it last weekend (same green as Chase and Siena's room) and put the cribs together last night! The bedding arrived yesterday and we got one set in the crib. I can't wait until we have the nursery ready! Here is a sneak peek:
