Thanksgiving weekend

Here's what our loooong Thanksgiving weekend looked like!

Wednesday: Daddy still had to work, so Chase and I went to Dinosaur World with a group of other stay-at-home moms and kids! If you drive on I-4 between Tampa and Orlando, you're sure to notice the huge T-Rex looming over the interstate... that's Dino World! It's really just a wooded area filled with lots of fake, life-sized dinosaurs, but I'm sure it's magical to little eyes. There was lots to see and do... including fossil digs, giant goldfish to feed, and a fun playground. Chase had a great time!

Thursday: We started the day out with a family Turkey Trot (aka 3 mile run around our neighborhood). Then Eric fixed a huge brunch, complete with french toast, eggs and bacon, while I sat with Chase as he watched his first ever Macy's Thanksgiving parade on tv! Same idea as the fake dinosaurs... kind of boring to me, but those huge Wonderdog and Smurf balloons are pretty fascinating for him right now! After a nice afternoon nap, we headed next door to our neighbors' house for Thanksgiving dinner! I was SO grateful not to have to cook this year and it's nice to be surrounded by friends when you can't be with your family. Stephen and Julie made so much food and Chase had fun playing with Cooper after eating 2 platefuls of ham and turkey! I think Dennis enjoyed his first Thanksgiving meal as well!

Friday: Eric had to work, again, so Dennis, Chase and I headed over the to outlets for a little Black Friday shopping! I didn't really have much to buy this year since we're not exchanging presents with any of our (adult) family members, but I still enjoy getting out and being among all of the crazy shoppers! I really can't explain why. My next favorite shopping day of the year is Christmas Eve... so intense!

Saturday: Our good friends Jackie and John had rented a beach house for the weekend and invited us to come hang out for the day! It's been a little cool here lately, but the weather was perfect on Saturday! We ate lunch with them and then headed out to the beach for a while. It was warm enough to sit in your bathing suit, but a little too cold to swim... or at least I thought so! Dennis and Chase had other ideas. Poor Eric... he stood out there with Chase for about an hour as he jumped over the waves, yelling "got it!" each time. Chase was shivering, but so happy, and didn't want to get out! He had fun playing in the sand with his friend Ava though, and the guys threw a football around while Jackie and I chatted. After the kids took a nap, we grilled some steaks and then made a bonfire while watching the sunset! It was a great day!

Sunday: It FINALLY rained (can't even remember the last time!) so after a quick morning run, we stayed inside all day, watched football, and ate pizza!
