Observations

Just a few observations...

1. In all of the baby books and websites they talk about the different reflexes that newborns have... Moro, rooting, stepping. We've decided that Chase has an extra one called the "poop reflex." Any time you start to change his diaper, he starts to poop! It almost never fails. We've pretty much learned that all you can do is start to change his diaper but then leave it on him and wait another a minute or so until he finishes! It's taken a few times of cleaning poop off of the couch, bedspread, and clothing to learn this.

2. Chase is a great escape artist and manages to bust out of every single blanket that we've tried to "swaddle" him with! I'm trying to figure out what kind of blanket is actually sized just right to be used in this way... but I haven't found a single one! Even the "swaddle me" blanket, which is made especially for this purpose, can't hold in Chase's strong arms! But I do have to say that when he IS swaddled, even for a short amount of time, he sleeps much better at night and is easier to feed.

3. Chase must miss being inside my belly when I run because he loves to bounce! That's the one sure way to calm him. In fact, right now he's sitting on my lap while I type this and my legs have to keep constantly moving to keep him from crying!

Speaking of running, I'm on the road again!! This past week I went running 3 times, each time for about a mile and a half. It felt SO good to be running again! It was nice to not have to worry about falling (which is inevitable for me) and hurting someone other than myself! And not having the extra weight to carry around is wonderful! Can't wait to find a race to run in when we move to Florida!

Here are the newest pictures of Chase...

YEAH for you Shannon- already out and about! I remember how nice it was to simply get out of the house and smell some fresh air when Tallon was little=) Chase is absolutely ADORABLE- i just love his hair and his cute expressions!!! Tallon was never a good arm swaddler either- we finally decided he must have kept his arms above his head those last few weeks in the womb bc he absolutely DETESTED his arms being swaddled but loved his feet being swaddled- who knew?! Glad things are going well- enjoy these precious days of feeding, cuddling and yes.... pooping=)
