Last weekend was probably the most relaxing and therapeutic weekend I've had in a long time! Nothing beats getting to spend time with friends who have known you for so long and who it seems understand you completely. There's no pretending, putting up fronts, or trying to look good... I love being able to just be me. I was able to spend last Wednesday night through Sunday hanging out with 3 of my best friends from college, and fortunately it's something I get to look forward to every year! This year we stayed at a beach house on Edisto Island in SC and the weather was just perfect! I'm already looking forward to next year! (I'd post some pictures here from the weekend but Melissa was the official photographer and she has all of the good ones!)
In other news, I'm preparing to transition from a very quiet house (well, except when Elvis is barking) to a full house! First of all, I got a new roommate last week: Eric's youngest sister Katie! I'm very excited about her living with us. I've always wanted to be like one of those characters in Jane Austen's books where entire extended families live under one roof. Granted, most of them had east and west wings in their houses, but I still think the concept is cool. I probably only feel this way because I have the best in-laws ever! I practically lived with mom and dad-in-law 2 years ago when Eric was in his first phase of training in New Mexico. They've always treated me like I was really a member of their family and I honestly love being around them all! The second reason why my house will be full is because Eric comes home TONIGHT!!! I can't believe the 3 months is finally over! I remember when he first left people were always saying to me, "Time will fly by, don't worry!" and it used to make me so mad. I wanted to say, "yeah, time will fly by maybe for YOU". At the time it seems like the days move by so slowly, but in the end it really does seem like yesterday. But isn't that how it always is? When I first found out I was pregnant it seemed like forever until I would reach the halfway point and get to find out if we're having a boy or girl. And now here I am, 19 weeks and the ultrasound is just a week away! I bet people will start telling me to enjoy being pregnant while it lasts because it's going to "fly by" and probably the same thing once the baby is born... I will be instructed to enjoy that time while he/she is a baby because next thing you know they'll be off to college! Time really is a weird thing. I don't want to wish it to go faster or slower, I just want to accept it for what it is and make the most of it. Well, actually I do wish that these next 2 hours would be over in a blink of an eye so that Eric would finally be home! :)
