So anyways, it turns out that he didn't even volunteer for the trip to Australia so he could be home for "birthday week", which was so, so nice. His birthday is the same week so we always celebrate together. The first thing we did was go out for a fun dinner and a movie night, which we have seriously never done since we've had Chase. The last movie we saw together in a theater was in 2006!! We had dinner at this Italian restaurant called Brio (yum!) and went to see Avatar at the IMAX theater. We love IMAX movies, but maybe Avatar wasn't the best idea. I mean, I liked the movie, but it was sooo hard to watch on that screen. When things started moving fast, I just had to shut my eyes. Still, it was fun. Then another night Eric secretly got 5 of my closest friends and their husbands together for dinner at the Acropolis!! It's definitely one my favorite places to eat, but it's even more fun when it's your birthday! There was belly dancing, sangria, napkins in the air, singing, baklava... I mean, really, what more could you ask for on your birthday?? It was so much fun! I see these girls practically every day and we do the "moms night out" thing occasionally too, but it was fun to be dressed up and out with our husbands this time for a group date night. Afterwards we went next door to this place called the Green Iguana and had fun dancing some more and pretty much acting like anything but parents in our 30's!

29 + 1
Okay, so I kind of turned 30 this week and I guess it was kind of a big deal. I was really hoping to stay in my 20's forever but I guess we can't always get what we want. BUT I do have to say that this year was the most fun I've had celebrating my birthday in a loooong time. Like maybe since my 10th birthday when we did the egg-on-the-spoon races in the front yard! Last year Eric was in Paris for my birthday, which I have reminded him about every 364 days since. So this year when he said he was going to be in Australia in June, I pouted quite a bit, but I wasn't shocked. I really do want him to get out there and see the world and tell me all about it when he gets home so I can live vicariously through him. Really, I do. I told him that I will always act mad at first, but then I'll relent and be happy for him. He knows I'd jump at the chance to go anywhere too.

He's the best!!! :)
On Tuesday, which was my actual birthday, I stayed really busy. I went for a bike ride with my friend and training buddy Joyce, went to the playground with Chase and Siena, took a nice nap, and then hung out at the Park Square fountains and ate cupcakes with some friends. Oh and Amy's frozen pizza for dinner... the pesto kind with broccoli and tomatoes, my favorite!! It was a really good day.
