On my mind...

Here is what's on my mind today...

-Is there anything more frustrating than getting home from a store and finding out that you left at least one bag at the checkout?? Our Super Target is WAY too far away for my liking, so when I make a trip there, it's a big deal. Today when I returned home from my 2-hour shopping excursion, I discovered that I was missing a box of waffles, a container of sour cream, taco seasoning, a tomato, lunch meat, package of bacon (okay, maybe this was a sign that I shouldn't be buying it anyways!), and croutons. I definitely considered myself lucky that I didn't forget one of the other bags... which could have contained items far more expensive, such as sunscreen, a baby gift for a friend, or running shorts. But still... after clipping coupons and debating between brands to find the lowest price, it feels like such a waste of money when you leave a whole bag at the store! Not to mention the fact that now I'll have to make another trip to the grocery store to get the missing items (maybe tomorrow!). Why not jump back in the car to go retrieve the missing bag? Well... it was lunch time, then nap time, and when Chase wakes up I'll just feel terrible putting him back in the car for an hour-long round trip to Target. Besides, there are a million other things I'd rather do... like go for a run, ride my bike up to the pool, or just sit in the backyard shade and watch Chase play!

-Why in the world can't I find a decent looking (and fitting) maternity bathing suit? Pool season is HERE and last week I was walking around the pool deck fully dressed in shorts and t-shirt because I had nothing to wear. Is it just me or do they make maternity suits (and a lot of the shirts) in horribly loud patterns... maybe to distract from the huge belly?? I'm about to pull a Britney Spears and start wearing my regular 2 piece suits from last summer and just leave the belly out! If it was just me at the pool, I wouldn't mind... but I'm not sure I want to deal with all of the stares. If someone knows where I can find a normal looking (reasonably priced!) bathing suit to cover up this big belly, let me know! My neighbors will thank you! By the way, this picture was taken about 10 days ago, when I was 20 weeks (and it was still a little chilly outside, which is explains the long sleeves... this was when the rest of you were having those snow storms)!

-Since Chase just turned 2, I'd really like to take him in to have more professional pictures taken. We haven't done that since he turned 1! But I'm really worried that he's not going to cooperate. He doesn't really smile for the camera anymore, and he usually clams up around strangers. I just don't think he's going to laugh when the photographer lady jumps out with a stuffed bunny and makes weird noises like he used to! He's much more likely to start giggling when he knocks over a cup of water while playing ball in the living room...

-Speaking of which, I'm so glad we don't have anything expensive or fragile in our home because the 3 boys in my house get a little wild when playing ball after dinner! For his birthday, Chase got a soccer goal and a t-ball set, and he still plays with the basketball goal from last year's birthday. Usually they all play outside, but occasionally the games migrate to the living room. I almost lost it last night when I was doing dishes and a ball came flying over the counter and knocked down a cup of water... but then I took a deep breath and decided to get over it, because Chase's laughter was totally worth it! Okay, so maybe it's not something we want to do all the time, but in the end it's fun and harmless. Now if I had a china cabinet or an antique vase from aunt Mildred, then we'd be in trouble! Here are some pictures (from last week) of some indoor t-ball action:
-Chase is most definitely left handed! This is really cool, and weird to me. He draws, eats, paints, throws, and bats with his left hand! I just think it's so interesting how he developed into a left handed kid with no outside influence from us. In fact, if he had watched and imitated us, he would've been right handed. But we do have some lefties in the family: both of my parents and both of Eric's sisters, so I guess it makes sense.

-And finally, here are a few pics from last weekend. Chase loves to use his big chair to climb and reach everything that's normally too high for him:

These are from our day at the zoo on Saturday after the "Zoo Zoom 5K". It was our first race with Chase in the stroller (usually we get a babysitter). I think I ran with the stroller for about 3/4 mile, then I passed it off to Eric. It definitely wasn't a race for the fastest time, as I'm getting slower and slower every day! But it was fun to run through the zoo and see all of the animals, and then go back again later and spend more time there.
