Maybe I should go out of town more often...

I just returned from a very relaxing girls weekend. (Melissa did such a great job of describing it on her blog that I'll just link to it!) Fortunately, Eric was able to stay home with Chase this year so I didn't have to take him with me (last year was no where near as relaxing for me)! Apparently Chase learned a lot while I was gone... on Monday, I asked him how many chicken nuggets he wanted for lunch and instead of saying his usual "two" (his favorite number), he replied, "two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!" I had no idea that he even knew all of his numbers, let alone what order they were in!!! I was so happy, I almost started crying! Eric said that he had been reading Chase his counting book from the library every night. Guess it worked! The other good news is that Chase slept through the night every night while I was gone, so on Monday night we decided to convert his crib to a toddler bed! It has gone pretty well so far... yesterday at nap time it was a little rough, but I expected that. It took him an hour longer than usual to fall asleep, but eventually he did, and he slept 2 hours like normal. The nights have gone exceptionally well so far... we've only had to go in there a few times. But Chase LOVES his "big boy bed" and if I ask him if he wants his baby crib back he says, "NO!"

I got the video camera out on Monday after the counting incident and tried to get some video of him counting and doing his letter puzzle for a few minutes. This is for his grandparents and aunts, who I know are dying to hear him finally talking!

Aaaw...Shannon! He's so cute! And soooooo big! You must be so proud that he's learning all his letters and numbers - I remember how proud I was when I started teaching the girls how to read, and they weren't even my kids!

GO CHASE!
