What's going on

I've been a little under the weather the past few days, but fortunately Chase has remained healthy! When I first felt my sore throat on Thursday, I was sure that Chase was going to start showing symptoms immediately and I admit that I went into a bit of panic mode because he's never been sick before and to be honest, I'd have no idea what to do if he was. Except maybe to call my mom! I've never used the thermometer on him and I'm not even sure where it is! I'm sure we won't always be this lucky, but I'm glad that we've at least made it this far. One thing's for sure: he hasn't stayed healthy due to lack of germ-exposure. We took him out to restaurants, the mall, Target, when he was only days old and we took him on an airplane when he was 5 weeks old... against the advice of his pediatrician. He's been held by sniffling friends plenty of times and I've had a cold twice and never cut back on kissing and cuddling with him. Maybe he's just Super Baby or something! I'll keep dreaming...

One thing Chase is NOT right now is a Super Eater. I'm not sure what happened to my baby who loved to eat everything, but all of a sudden we're having trouble getting him to eat his cereal, fruits and veggies. Usually he'll just a take a few bites and then we spend the rest of the time trying to get him to open his mouth. It's like a little game... we'll make him laugh and rush the spoon towards him, only to find that he's faster than the spoon and his mouth is already shut! He tries so hard to smile and laugh and even cry sometimes without opening his mouth. It's really strange. The one food that he did go crazy over the other day was YoBaby yogurt! He was inhaling it! But who can blame him... has anyone tried that stuff? It tastes like melted ice cream! I had to stop myself from eating it! I took advantage of his feeding frenzy by pouring some rice cereal in it to get in some extra vitamins and iron. But I hope he'll get back to eating his other foods like normal because I refuse to feed him yogurt every meal, or even every day! That stuff's expensive and maybe a little too sugary! Another way I've been able to get him to eat is by letting him feed himself. Yep, this baby is 6 months old going on 6 years. So independent. If he thinks he's holding the spoon, he'll open his mouth. Or if I give him some finger foods (which he's too young for I think), he'll try to feed himself. He loves to try to eat bananas, honeydew, and even a pita chip. It's hard to explain to him that he has hardly any teeth and doesn't even understand the concept of chewing yet. Crazy boy.

I had to buy some sippy cups ASAP because he was obsessed with drinking water out of our cups. The only problem is that when he tries to drink, he back-washes a bit... and then our cup of water is obviously ruined! So he had to learn that he has his own cup, which he loves!

I love bargain shopping. I love cutting out coupons from the Sunday paper, finding coupon codes for things I buy online (this is my favorite site for that), shopping for stuff on eBay and Craigslist, and buying (certain) things from consignment stores. After Kristen and Rebecca recommended the Leap Frog table for Chase, I ended up finding one for sale on Craigslist or $25... in perfect condition from a very nice girl whose son had outgrown it. And Chase is really enjoying it so far!

And finally, here are some of the pictures from Chase's first trip to a photo studio. He was 6 months old that day!

This next one really makes me laugh! We didn't order this one... but I just love it. It's like he's surfing. Or spinning records!

GREAT PICTURES and slow glad you found a leapstart table for cheap!! FANTASTIC TOY! Tal still uses it (although mush less than before)!!
hang on there with the eating. It will pick back up- tal did that on occasion and it can be frustrating!! atleast he likes yo-baby and you can mix in some nutrients with it ( Tal used to love baby oatmeal mixed in!) hope you feel better soon! glad Chase has not gotten it! Sick babies are aweful but Tal's immunity was always soo great bc he got stuff thru my breastmilk (prob the same reason you have not had any issues with Chase getting sick!) all of ours started after I quit breastfeeding! get some rest!!

Hey! I started giving Cort some solids at 6 months. He loved the gerber puffs - you don't really need teeth for those - and then we didn't wait too long for bananas, cheese, bread, etc. By 9 mos. cort was pretty close to being done with baby foods - he def. liked the real stuff better.

Thanks, Em, that's good to know! I'll go buy some puffs! This morning I mashed up half of a banana for him and he took one bite and was done! But as I was eating the other half myself, he started kicking his legs and reaching for it! He was happy to munch on the whole banana but the only problem is that he doesn't actually consume much of it at this point! But we'll keep trying!
