Such a big boy!

It seems to me that Chase has really grown up these past 2 weeks! All of a sudden he's just so independent and he hardly seems like a baby anymore. His "crawling" has gotten even better, although he's still not totally on his hands and knees. But he's so fast on his belly and can roam all over the house now! He usually goes straight for the back door where he can look outside at the pond. He loves to put his hands on the glass and tries to pull up. And lately he's been straightening his legs and lifting up while trying to crawl... kind of like a "down dog" pose if you're familiar with yoga or pilates!

On his way from the living room to the bathroom...

He saw everything he wanted to see in the bathroom, so now he's headed to the guestroom!

The "down dog":

Loving the back sliding door:

We're now on week 2 of Chase's baby food strike! It's like he has this attitude of, "I'm not eating that baby food... it's for babies and you told me I was a big boy!" I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of to get him to eat! A change of scenery worked a few times. We took meal time outside and managed to get in a few good bites!

But it doesn't always work and I think he's on to my game anyways. I've also tried all kinds of finger foods. He definitely likes those... but like I said before, he doesn't actually consume much. I guess that will improve as he gains practice with picking things up and chewing. So far he's enjoyed cooked carrots, green beans, zucchini, cucumbers, string cheese, toast, and even fish! And thanks for the recommendation, Em... he loves the puffs! And wagon wheels. Those are a big hit! Yogurt continues to be a favorite too. I bought the kind with cereal and fruit already mixed in to make it a bit easier. And I also started giving him some juice to drink in his sippy cup, instead of just water, so he can get some vitamins in that way.

Eating string cheese and toast:

Chewing on some puffs:
Despite the eating troubles, he's happy and healthy! He had to go to the cardiologist yesterday for a follow up visit to check on his VSD. Last time we went was when he was 5 days old. They said he had two small holes then and that they should both close up within a few months. Well yesterday the doctor said that one of the holes is completely closed and the other is very, very small! So that was great news! He doesn't have to go back for another 1-2 years now. We were so glad to hear that because it's not a fun thing to take your baby to a cardiologist and see them strapped up to all the machines and such. We are so grateful that everything's okay!

Here are some more recent pictures...

Oh no, he found more paper!

Ok, I saw Kristi's comment, so I have to ask . . . are you going to SC soon? Brian and I should be back in SC soon also, that's why I ask. Let me know! I'd love to see Chase (and you too of course)!
