What a great day!

It's an absolutely glorious day! The sun is shining and there's not a cloud in the sky! But best of all, the Tigers beat Florida State last night!!! Lucky Eric was at the game with some friends and I was at the Crystal City Sports Pub with the DC Clemson Young Alumni Club, biting my nails and sitting on the edge of my seat! What a game! Especially after the hearbreaking loss last week. The pub was PACKED with orange... I've never seen so many Clemson fans there! We even had a former Tiger mascot there to do pushups for us when we scored!

I just love this time of year! The weather's getting cooler and the Clemson football season is in full swing! And I love going out to play in the DC alumni's flag football games on the ellipse in front of the White House! Of course, this year I'm on the sidelines... which is a total bummer. But it's still nice to get out in the great weather and hang out with fellow Clemson alum. Berkeley went with me to the game yesterday and he was a major hit! What a popular dog! I think I convinced quite a few people that they need a Rhodesian Ridgeback in their life!

Okay, I have a few observations from my outing at the pub last night. Being pregnant (and showing) has it's ups and downs. The best part is that everyone is willing to give up their seat for you or go get you more food or beverage! A major plus when it's extremely crowded and otherwise I'd be standing like the rest of them. The worst part is that it's like wearing a sign saying, "Analyze me and rub my belly!" I mean, it's pretty weird when complete strangers come up to you and touch your stomach! I was just walking past a group of people and this guy reached out, patted my belly, and said, "Good luck with that!" I'm like, "umm... thanks!" And then I went into the restroom where there was a long line of women and it was like I was just there for their topic of discussion. One girl starts off by being so nice... "I've been looking at your belly all night! You're just so cute!" But then another says, "You're pregnant?! No way! I just thought you were a little chubby!" And yet another screams out, "Mother of God!" (I hate this expression!) "There's no way you're pregnant! How far along are you?" To which I answer "about 4 months." And then the rest of them proceed to analyze whether or not I look like I'm 4 months pregnant and their conclusion is that no, I'm way too small to be that far along! At this point I'm just praying that the next stall opens up and I'm biting my tongue to keep from saying something really nasty. I mean, what are they thinking?! Do they realize that they're inferring that my baby is not growing at the proper rate and there's something wrong with it?! Did I even ask them what they thought? Episodes like this are really teaching me to practice patience and politeness.... but man is it tough!

Anyways, it doesn't matter what those silly women think anyhow. They couldn't possibly ruin my night! I'm so excited now for the rest of the football season, and I just know that we're going to win every remaining game! If our only loss is to BC in double OT, we'll be just fine. Go Tigers!!!

Can I have free access to the belly? You know if we have to share a bed I'm going to be all over that. :) kidding, sort of. can't wait to see you Mrs. Preggers!

ha, I remember all that way too well. i got the same stuff. I even got comments about being to young to be pregnant (since every seems to think i'm in high school!). My favorite is later on when you are all big and pregnant - I had a lady at a school I subbed in to say "are you feeling ok because you look so....so....so blah!!" yes, she said I looked blah!!!! Worst part is I felt cute that day!!!!!! Anyway, we know your little one is growing great and God is forming him/her just has He plans!!!!! You look great. From your third trimester picture I think you look right on with how you should!!!! Love ya, Em

Meliss, of course, you have full belly access and I would be honored to share a bed with you anytime! :)

And Em, thanks for the encouragement! Can't believe someone called you "blah!" I would've really had trouble holding my tongue on that one!! I know that my size is just right... otherwise my midwife, not those crazy girls, would be the one to tell me!

This morning I read just what I needed to (as always, why am I so surprised when this happens?!):
