I'm thinking a lot about food lately! I just can't seem to get enough of it. I've only put on a few pounds so far, but I've continued running a lot, so I guess it's okay to eat like a pig! The other day I was eating some peas, LeSueur peas to be exact, and I thought of my friend Kristen. Last time we were together we somehow started talking about how we love LeSueur peas but our husbands hate them! The only reasonable explanation we could come up with for why we both like this random canned vegetable is that our moms must have fed them to us when we were little. We spent a lot of time together between the age of 0 and 4, and that explains why we ended up so much alike, despite being separated for pretty much the rest of our lives. Anyways, I got to thinking about how there are lots of other foods that make me think of friends. And that's the best part about food... not only does it taste good (most of the time), but if it reminds you of a good friend and a good memory, that's all the more reason to eat more! Here's a quick list I came up with of friends and foods (and/or restaurants) that make me think of them:
Kristen: LeSueur peas, mac and cheese (blue box), and mushroom pizza
Kristin: Chick-fil-a sweet tea and advocados
Emily: chips and salsa, string cheese, and cheese grits
Heather: Outback Steakhouse and "butt" rice (any kind of rice makes me think of this special variety!)
Melissa: squash and zucchini and casseroles
Lindsay: velveeta cheese dip and green beans with beef bouillon cubes
Katie: strawberry cookies, stuffed mushrooms, and spaghetti sauce made from scratch
Ginger: snowballs, watermelon, and Fazolis
Randell: hot tamales, cherries, and smoothies
Kristi: Texas Roadhouse and more recently California Dreaming, even though I haven't been back there since March, I'm sure I will always think of you and Heather and our fateful conversation when I eat there in the future! Must be something in the water!
Okay, now I'm really hungry!

Ok, there must be something about Lesuer peas that women love and men hate. I love them too! I had them all the time growing up, but Brian definitely isn't as fond of them.
shannon, we just ate at fazoli's tonight!!! it was so good. now they have whole wheat penne pasta so i got that instead of the regular spaghetti, but i still got the meat sauce. i liked this post a lot. it was very creative. you make me miss blogging! love, ginger
lesuer peas...that is hilarious. I didn't know anyone else loved lesuer peas as much I do. I can eat a whole can (of course heated and with butter) as a snack...and that was pre-prenancy!
