Posting every Saturday is not working out so well. There's always so much to do and I think I get writer's block just because I know I should post something. Actually, Monday seems to be a good day to write because I can talk about the past weekend... but if I say I'll always write on Monday then I'll probably get writer's block then too. So I think from now on I'll be more spontaneous!
This past Saturday I went running with my friend Pam. She's a super-runner who recently completed a 50K! That's 31 miles!!! I don't really have any desire to ever run that far, or even a marathon. I'm sure I could if I wanted to, but I just don't think I'd enjoy it. I really love to run FAST, not far.... it just seems more challenging to me. Running far is just boring. This weekend we ran 10 miles and that was plenty enough for me. I do enjoy trail running though. If I ever do decide to do a marathon, it will definitely be a trail race. That way it's just like hiking, only faster. Elvis came with me on the run, along with Pam's dog Biscuit and her friend Ann. I had thought that running 10 miles with Elvis would drain some of his energy for the rest of the day but unfortunately I was wrong. That dog could run all day long! Eric even took him out for another 5 miles yesterday and he STILL wasn't tired! I think we're going to have to get him a dog backpack like Cesar Milan recommends to wear him out a little bit. He's a little hyper these days.
On Saturday night we tried out the Hard Times Cafe in College Park. Guess what? The World's Greatest Ribs are back!!! The nachos were perfect (they even gave us a 1/2 portion like we requested), the tea was sweet, and the ribs were awesome! My only complaint was that there were red peppers in the salad instead of cucumbers, and they looked just like the tomatoes so it was hard to tell what I was biting into. But the fact that we had a buy-one-entree-get-one-free coupon made everything better! Gosh, I love coupons!
Well, I've saved the best news for last. This week we found out that Eric has a new job!!! I'd rather not go into lots of details about his job on this blog, but if you're on my frequent email list, you'll get all the details tomorrow. If you aren't and want to know, just send me an email and I'll be glad to share. This is so HUGE for us... something we've been waiting on since he graduated a few years ago, so we're thrilled! I know he's really excited to start using that graduate degree he worked so hard for. Hooray!!!
