These last few days have been SO busy and I've hardly had time to even think about writing anything on my blog! Well, the one exception would be on Saturday, when I actually usually write and I decided to take a nap instead! It was dark and rainy outside and it just felt like the kind of day to take a nap!
On Friday night Eric and I went to Outback for dinner... one of our all time favorite date restaurants! It also reminds us of our friends Dan and Heather, who we used to always go there with. Usually I get the EXACT same thing every time: a "Wallaby Darned" to drink, Alice Springs Chicken, a house salad with ranch dressing, and a sweet potato instead of the "aussie chips". Well, last Friday I was feeling adventurous and decided to try something new: the ribs! It was probably the loss of our Hard Times Cafe that made me do it (see earlier post), since I'm still in search of the world's best ribs. I'm extremely sad to report that I haven't found them yet! Nope, they're not at Outback. Oh well...it was still a nice dinner!
Saturday morning I was up bright and early to plant some trees in Patterson Park in downtown Baltimore. Our Clemson Young Alumni club had volunteered to help out the "Friends of Patterson Park: Tree Team" for our National Day of Service activity. Since our alumni leader had to take her FE exam that day (SO glad I already did that!!), I was "in charge" of the event. I was really worried that we were going to be thoroughly soaked by the end of the day since the event was "rain or shine" and the weatherman was predicting rain ALL DAY... but we got lucky and the rain held off until right after we finished! Our team planted 2 of the 27 trees that day and we had lots of fun. Afterwards, I went over the Katie and Karin's house (Eric's sisters... they live a few blocks away from the park) for some chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and eggs! Yum! And then.... it was back home for some quality nap time!
On Sunday we participated in a delayed Easter egg hunt/grocery shopping trip sponsored by some family friends of ours. It was delayed because the wonderful lady in charge, Judy, is an accountant and she was super busy last weekend with the tax deadline. Anyways, long story short, Eric and I gathered tons of little plastic eggs and walked away with about $4.50, 3 lottery tickets, cheetos, doritos, tostitos, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, rice-a-roni, tons of candy, and vitamin water! Not bad for half an hour of running through someone's backyard and acting like we're 5 years old again!
And finally, the latest and greatest news is that the old Taurus is finally gone... because Eric and I bought a new car last night! We battled through the lovely experience of dealing with used car salesmen, but we walked away intact. Actually, we drove away, happily, in an '05 Explorer! We were grinning from ear to ear like it was Christmas morning!
