Add TWO more to this love story!

Here is what I was thinking yesterday morning:
"I'm about to have 3 kids. I've done this whole pregnancy, labor and delivery, and breastfeeding thing twice before so I'm a pro. I have no worries... I have every thing I need for the next baby and I really won't need to buy anything. I'm excited about not finding out the gender of this baby at my ultrasound later this afternoon!"

But then we walked into the ultrasound room for my standard 20 week sonogram and as soon as the girl put the thing on my belly and announced, "There are TWO babies in there!", my whole world turned upside down!

Yes, we're having twins!!!

I can't even begin to describe what I was feeling at that moment! I immediately started crying and laughing at the same time and continued to do so for the next 20 minutes or so! Eric was grinning ear to ear with a big, "I told you so!" (he's been teasing me about having twins from the beginning!) and Chase, who was there also, was just as happy as could be! The millions of thoughts that flooded my mind (and constantly still flood my mind) were so overwhelming...

"Can I still go to my midwife group? Will I still be able to have a natural birth or will I need a c-section? How long will I be able to breastfeed 2 babies? Is our (new) car big enough for 4 kids? Do I have time to change our Christmas cards to announce 2 babies on the way? Will we be able to afford to take 4 kids to Disney World? I'm going to have to buy (or make!) a LOT of baby food! I'm never going to sleep again! Will anyone want to babysit 4 kids so we can still go on a date every once in a while? How will I go to the grocery store with all of them?.... " and on and on and ON!

After the initial shock wore off, Eric and I decided to find out if the twins were boys or girls. The tech explained that they were identical twins so they would both be the same gender. Poor Chase... he wanted a little brother so badly, but we found out that they are GIRLS! Two more girls. How amazing!

So needless to say, we are floored by this news! We were so sure of our plan to have a family of five! But I LOVE the fact that God has blessed us and surprised us in this way!! I love knowing that He is in control of my life, not me. This is the perfect family that He had planned for us all along. One boy and three girls. A family of 6! Despite any fears that I may have, I am overjoyed and excited and so in awe of what is taking place! God is SO good and we are so thankful.

Here are the first pictures of our two little girls! They are both healthy and growing well... both at the right size.

Awww, Shay, I loved hearing about all the details! And I know exactly how I would have the same thought patterns with that kind of news!

You are going to be such an awesome momma of twins! You should ask Casey Finley about her experience - I'm pretty sure they had two kiddos before having twin boys. And they are expecting their 5th next year!

SO excited!!! I need to find a weekend where Hunt is on call for me to come down to Tampa for a visit!

I will babysit 4 kids so you can have a date night!!!! Of course, you'd have to take a road trip to durham with all 6 of you. I am thrilled for you and will continue to to pray for you all. I know God will give you peace about all those details. NO one will make a better mama!!!!

Congratulations all around!! I'm sure you won't have any problems finding help so you can have some me or together time. Plus it's so much easier to buy dining room sets with six chairs than five...there are always perks to everything and you have truly been blessed!!

I still can't believe you're having TWINS!!! Wow, just wow. I always thought you'd be the perfect kind of person/wife/mother to have a lot of kiddos. Looks like God thinks so too! Love you, and am sooooooooooo happy for you!
