Autumn... Florida style

I have to admit, I get a little jealous when I see other people's blog posts about all of their fall festivities! Here in Florida there are no leaves changing colors, no hayrides, no apple picking, and not a single jacket or pair of jeans has left our closets! But still, from looking at the calendar, we know it's October and that means time to put out the pumpkins and mums! Supposedly there's a great pumpkin patch about an hour from here, but it's really close to the beach, and I'm thinking that if I got into the car to drive an hour away, I might just be tempted to go to the beach instead of the pumpkin patch! So we went to a little "patch" near our house... which is really just a bunch of pumpkins sitting inside a fenced area outside of a church! Chase loved it though! He ran up and down every row, trying to pick up a few pumpkins along the way!

They had a nice little picture spot set up, with some hay stacks and flowers, but he wasn't too happy about having to stop to get his picture taken!

Last night we went out to the driveway to paint the pumpkins. This was so much fun (and thanks to Sage for the advice about what paint to buy... that actually helped me a lot)! We got some laughs from the neighbors about the little naked boy painting the driveway!

Chase and I went to a Halloween party last week with some friends. I had tried everything I could think of to get a good Halloween costume for Chase! It's tough here because it's so warm, so you don't really want to buy them one of those big, furry cute outfits that are so popular for
kids. I did end up buying one last year, but he was so young then, he hardly wore it. So I took Chase to a couple of Halloween stores and attempted to get him to try on a few things. He wanted nothing to do with any of them! Finally I found this really adorable Thomas the Train costume and I thought for sure that it would be a winner, since he's really obsessed with Thomas right now. But he totally freaked out when I put it over his head and I just couldn't bring myself to spend $30 on a costume that he might not wear. So... to make a long story short, he's going to be a Clemson football player this year! I know, bad year for that. But it's the one thing that he's comfortable wearing since he usually wears his jersey every Saturday. Here are some pics of him and his friend Mia, the Florida Gator cheerleader, at the party:
