The 4th and the Flood

Okay, I know the 4th of July was a week ago but I've been too busy to post anything since then! We decided to do something randomly different this July 4th and we played Scrabble on a rooftop deck in Baltimore before catching some fireworks over the Inner Harbor! Our fellow Scrabble tournament foes were Karin and Katie. The cooked up some awesome burgers on their little Coleman grill and we thoroughly enjoyed the view from their deck!

Before the festivities, Karin displayed Katie's new motorcycle helmet for us!

Things at work have been CRAZY lately! The past 2 weeks I've had to cover for a colleague of mine who was on vacation. Well, of course, everything that could go wrong did go wrong! His guys were supposed to install a new exhaust fan on the roof of our building to serve a lab below. The only problem is, they did have they decided to seal the roof themselves instead of wait for the roofer (who never showed up)! The result? After a huge thunderstorm, the lab above us was a little wet, but our offices were drenched!!! We're in the basement so it all ended up in our space. Fortunately my office didn't get hit too hard... just really soaked carpet and wet drawings (an engineer's nightmare)! Other people were not so lucky. There were lost computers and a large supply of cell phones destroyed. Needless to say, I didn't get much work done the next few days. We had maintenance and housekeeping in there cleaning up and huge fans in the hallway trying to dry everything out. What a mess!
